A highly successful and most enjoyable meeting was held at the 3M offices , 146a Kelvin Drive, Woodmead. It is a very accessible venue, with secure parking. The 3M team, Hannelie, Kim, Ansu and Florence are very welcoming, proficient and competent, which contributes greatly to the smooth running and ambiance of the meeting.
168 practioners attended. This included a spread of Dentists, Oral Hygienists and Dental Assistants. They were treated to a program of excellent speakers:
Dr Les Lang, from Cape Town, a dentist whose special interests are paediatric dentistry & conscious sedation spoke on ‘Coping with the Difficult Child Patient’.
Dr Ivan Esra, an orthodontist spoke on ‘ The dentist responsibility in handling a deep bite’.
Dr Maurice Goodman, the Head of Health Profession Strategy, Discovery Health spoke on the ‘Ethical Dilemma's faced in the Search and Rescue Mission in Haiti’. The talks proved to be both relevant and entertaining. In addition we were able to offer 4 CPD points – 2 Ethics and 2 Clinical points. Great news is that the DVD’s from these talks will soon be on sale. In addition a delicious light finger supper was served.
Our grateful thanks to the dental companies who sponsored the meeting, Dental Warehouse, Colgate and GC. It was great having you there and I think the dentists really enjoy interacting with you and examining your latest products. Thanks also to Med-Bay, the Burk brothers, for their very efficient and speedy delivery of the CPD certificates.
